Built by Zac Randles

Developer & founder

I built CostCrunch because I kept Googling the same tax math — "how much does an employee actually cost?" — and getting blog posts that were either wrong, outdated, or paywalled. So I built the calculator I wanted: one that pulls from official government sources, runs entirely in your browser, and doesn't try to upsell you on payroll software.

CostCrunch is an independent, bootstrapped project. I'm not affiliated with any payroll company, HR software vendor, or financial institution. My only goal is to give you the right number as quickly as possible — no signup required, no data collected, no ads cluttering the result.

Data is reviewed and updated annually, typically in January–March after state agencies publish new-year rates. All data reflects 2026 tax year figures unless otherwise noted.
